Master BBQ Competition

The Master BBQ Competition at the Rocky Mountain BBQ Classic takes place at the Mesa County Fairgrounds and features top teams competing for over $50,000 in prize money, including $10,000 in cash for the Grand Champion. As a sanctioned State Championship, the winner also earns an invitation to compete on BBQ’s biggest national stages.

      • American Royal Invitational

      • Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational

    • Hosted at the Mesa County Fairgrounds

  • Teams will compete across four official categories:

    • Brisket

    • Pork Butt

    • Chicken

    • Ribs

    • Over $50,000 in total prize money

    • $10,000 CASH awarded to the Grand Champion

    • Payouts awarded:

      • 1st–10th place in each category

      • Overall placements through 10th place

Backyard BBQ Competition

The Backyard BBQ Competition takes place at Veterans Memorial Park and showcases up-and-coming pitmasters competing for $10,000 in prize money and serious bragging rights, with $2,500 in cash awarded to the Grand Champion. This division highlights the next generation of BBQ talent working their way toward the Master level.

Tailgate Challenge

The Tailgate Challenge kicks off the Rocky Mountain BBQ Classic on Thursday afternoon with 24 teams competing in a fast-paced, crowd-friendly showdown. Teams will battle through multiple rounds of creative BBQ favorites, with a $10,000 Grand Champion prize and celebrity female pitmasters serving as judges.
